The EU RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC), the EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment, is a mandatory standard established by the EU legislation and was officially implemented on July 1, 2006. It is to eliminate lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers in electrical and electronic products. On June 4, 2015, the European Union issued the Directive (EU) 2015/863 to amend 2011/65/EU (RoHS 2.0) to formally include four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP). In RoHS 2.0 Appendix II, there are restrictions on 10 types of controlled substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
RoHS 2.0 came into effect on July 21, 2011. The time for electronic and electrical equipment to meet ROHS 2.0 at the latest is: July 22, 2019.
